About Life & Reinvention

Carla Coffman was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and raised in the countryside of West Virginia, where her love for watching people and listening to stories first began. After attending Center College in Charleston, West Virginia, she started her career at The National Geographic Society in Washington, D.C., learning the discipline of research, detail, and storytelling at a global scale.

Her path later led through many professional worlds—working at the Charleston Newspaper, the Charleston Area Chamber of Commerce, and eventually into the fast‑paced environment of Wall Street, where she served as Secretary to the Director of a brokerage firm. Returning to West Virginia, Carla built a successful career as a real estate broker in Charleston, navigating both property and people with equal care. She later continued her family’s legacy by working in their insurance agency in Nicholas County.

Through each chapter of her life, Carla adapted, reinvented, and returned—carrying forward the experiences that would later shape her fiction.
